Yarrow Herb (lat. Achillea millefolium) is a species of plant from the Asteraceae family. It grows not only in Europe, but also in Asia and North America. It commonly grows in fallow land, pastures and meadows. In addition to medicine, this plant is used in the kitchen as a seasoning for soups and sauces, yarrow can also be used in cosmetics, for example in the production of creams, masks and shampoos.

Dosage and how to use

Brew

One tablespoon of dried herb pour on a glass of boiling water and set aside for 20 minutes. The herb must be strained, and such an infusion is drunk by dividing the portion into two doses.

Yarrow juice 

Can be used to detoxify the body and in case of anemia. First you need to mix the yarrow herb or leaves with water, and then strain the liquid through the gauze. Pour the resulting mixture into a jar and refrigerate. Yarrow juice should be drunk 2-4 times a day before meals, in a dose of 10-15ml and used within three days.

Decoction 

Pour one tablespoon of dried yarrow herb with a glass of hot water and leave to cool for 20 minutes. Drink twice a day a half a glass.

 

Side effects

Using yarrow herb in excessive amounts might be the cause of poisoning. This is manifested by a headache and slight lightheadedness. If such symptoms occur, the use of yarrow should be discontinued immediately.

Contraindications 

It is not recommended to administer the yarrow herb to children under 12 years of age due to the lack of safety data in this group of patients. There are also no data on the safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In addition, be careful of possible allergic reactions.
