Greater Celandine (lat. Chelidonium Majus) from perennial species, from the poppy family, showing numerous healing properties. It has been used in natural medicine for centuries. Its best known use is in the treatment of warts. Warts are changes in the skin in the form of growths caused by infection. Lesser known uses include the relief of abdominal pain, among others. Celandine is effective for both nausea and premenstrual pain. Celandine has also been shown to relieve pain, lower blood pressure, and slow the heart rate. The infusion of young leaves, on the other hand, is cholagogic and regulates the digestive tract. Preliminary studies also show that alcohol extracts of this herb have anti-inflammatory effect.

 

Health properties

Dosage and how to use

Infusion:

1 tablespoon of herb pour 2 cups of boiling water; set aside for 30 minutes; strain. Drink 100ml 3-4 times a day.

Decoction:

Pour 1 tablespoon of herb into 2 cups of water; cook for 5 minutes; set aside for 20 minutes; strain. Dose same as infusion.

Cold alcohol:

Half a cup of fresh ground herb pour 400ml of vodka; etch 14 days; filter. Take 10ml 3-4 times a day; in colic - 1 tbsp.

 

Side effects

Although celandine is generally a safe herb, care should be taken with regard to dosages. A common side effect, despite the use of the right amount, is gastrointestinal complaints. These can include: diarrhea, indigestion, stomach pain, digestive tract cramps, incontinence urine, lethargy, nausea.

Contraindications 

Celandine herb should not be used during pregnancy as it may cause uterine contractions. In addition, glaucoma or peptic ulcer disease may be contraindications. People who have problems with the proper functioning of the liver should be cautious in using celandine.
