Linden Flower ( lat. Tilia) belongs to the species used in folk medicine for centuries. It is one of the traditional medicinal products, the effectiveness of which has been confirmed through long-term use. As it turns out, it can be used in many ailments.
Health properties
- It has an anti-inflammatory and diaphoretic effect, which contributes to the reduction of body temperature, therefore it is used in infectious diseases with fever, as well as in colds;
- It has an astringent, softening and protective effect, it can be used in inflammations of the mouth and throat, as well as in the case of dry cough, reducing its attacks;
- It also exhibits calming and anxiolytic properties due to the essential oil content. It can be used in nervous hyperactivity or sleep problems;
- Some sources talk about the possible use of the raw material in migraines or rheumatic diseases;
- Has a hypotensive effect (lowers blood pressure);
- Diuretic;
- Thanks to the flavonoids it contains, it also has an antioxidant effect - protecting against the harmful effects of free radicals, which is important in the prevention of many diseases, including cancer;
- It can also be used externally in the case of cracking, irritated and itchy skin.

Dosage and how to use
Infusion
Pour 1 tablespoon of dried Linden flower into a glass, pour boiling water and set aside for about 20 minutes. You can add raspberry juice or honey (preferably lime) to the infusion - but then the infusion should be cooled down to preserve the healing properties of honey. You can also drink it with the addition of lemon. Lime tea is used three times a day, after a cup, between meals.
In order to maximize the healing properties of the mucous substances contained in linden flowers, it is good to squeeze the tea with a spoon on a sieve after brewing it, and if you use herbs in bags - carefully squeeze the bag after cooling it with your fingers.
Calming Bath
Mix 50g of linden flowers, 30g of shredded calamus rhizomes and 20g of lavender flowers. Pour 2 liters of boiling water over the herbs and leave it covered for 30 minutes, or heat it up so as not to bring it to a boil. Strain and pour the infusion into the bathtub. Put the herbs in a cloth bag, tie and immerse them in a bath filled to 1/3 with water at 37-38 degrees C. The bath should last 15-20 minutes. After the bath, do not dry yourself with a towel, but wrap it with a bath sheet, put it in bed and cover it warmly.
Side effects
There are no known side effects of drinking tea with linden blossoms. There are no unequivocally alarming messages from the world of science about linden tea and its possible toxicity. However, there are suspicions that more of it may be harmful to people with heart disease.
Contraindications
Overuse of linden infusion can lead to problems with the nervous system and eyesight. Linden infusion is diuretic and can strain the kidneys. Therefore, people with kidney problems should not abuse it. Administration of lime infusion to pregnant women also raises doubts.
