Coltsfoot Leaf (lat. Tussilago Farfara) is a popular perennial that occurs naturally throughout Europe, Asia, the mountainous areas of North America and selected countries of South America. Coltsfoot was used over 2.5 thousand years ago and its pro-health properties are appreciated to this day.

Application
- Helpful in expectoration and fighting cough. Coltsfoot syrup is administered to people suffering from pharyngitis or laryngitis, and with irritated oral mucosa;

- Coltsfoot preparations are great for fighting inflammation, especially of the upper respiratory tract.
Dosage and how to use
Infusion
Pour one tablespoon of the herb with a glass of boiling water and let it brew, covered, for about 10 minutes. After cooling, strain and drink no more than half a glass of infusion twice a day.
Decoction
One tablespoon of the herb is poured over with water and then boiled for about 10-15 minutes. After straining and cooling the decoction, it is dosed in the same way as for the infusion.
Side effects
Excessive use of coltsfoot can damage the liver, so it is not recommended for people suffering from liver diseases. In addition, preparations made on the basis of coltsfoot are strictly prohibited for pregnant women, breastfeeding women and children under 12 years of age.
Contraindications
Coltsfoot should be used with caution, because in addition to health-promoting ingredients, it also contains small amounts of toxic compounds. That is why it should not be used for more than 6 weeks throughout the year. Coltsfoot should not be given to children under 12 years of age, nor is it recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
