Bladderwrack Algae (lat. Fucus Vesiculosus) is an algae that belongs to the class of brown algae. In nature, it can be found on the shores of many seas and oceans, mainly in the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Arctic Ocean, the White Sea and the Western Baltic Sea.

The content of iodine in the composition of Bladderwrack strongly depends on the waters from which it was harvested. Bladderwrack thallus is a source of many health-promoting substances.

In addition to the mentioned iodine, Bladderwrack contains, among others: polysaccharides, monosaccharides, minerals (mainly magnesium, zinc, sodium, potassium, manganese and copper), vitamins (A, C, group B) and xanthophylls (carotenoid pigments), which in in combination with chlorophyll  gives the algae the brown colour.
