Hawthorn Fruit (lat. Cratageus) is a very popular and known primarily as a medicinal plant. It's found in parks, gardens, on the edges of forests. The fruits are harvested in late autumn when they are ripe but still firm. They cannot be rotten or overripe, as they then lose their healing properties. Hawthorn fruits are a rich source of minerals and other compounds, so they are widely used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes.
Pour two teaspoons of hawthorn fruit with a glass of boiling water and leave it covered for 20 minutes. It is best to drink the infusion of hawthorn fruits three times a day.
Although hawthorn has excellent health properties, there are some contraindications to its use. People suffering from serious diseases should consult a doctor before reaching for hawthorn - this especially applies to patients with heart failure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also contraindications to the use of hawthorn preparations.
