White Willow Bark (lat. Salix alba) is considered a natural substitute for aspirin. It is a valuable source of salicylic acid. The spectrum of action of willow bark is very wide. The raw material is known especially for its antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The healing effect of willow bark has been known for a very long time. Dosage and how to use

Infusion

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried willow bark. Set the mixture aside, covered, for 10-15 minutes to infuse. It is recommended to drink 1 cup of willow bark 1-2 times a day.

Decoction

Pour 1 tablespoon of the herb into 1.5 cups of water and put it on the heat. After bringing to a boil, the mixture must be boiled for half an hour. After this time leave to cool covered, for a quarter of an hour. Be sure to strain the decoction before use. The preparation should be consumed freshly prepared, after meals, 1 glass 3 times a day.

Tincture

100 g of herbal willow bark pour 400 ml of alcohol with a strength of 40-60%. Leave the mixture tightly closed in a dark place for 14 days for maceration. After this time, it should be filtered and poured into bottles. It is recommended to consume 1 tablespoon diluted in 50 ml of water 3-4 times a day. When consuming willow bark, be careful not to exceed the maximum daily dose, which for adults is 12 g.

External application of willow bark

You can ensure the valuable effect of willow bark on the skin by making compresses from the decoction. All you need to do is soak it in gauze and apply it to the affected skin. Therapeutic baths are another suggestion. To do this, boil 100 g of fresh or dried bark in 1 liter of water for 20 minutes, then add it to the bath. Willow bark also helps with excessively greasy and falling out hair or dandruff. In this case, a stock is made. Boil 100 g of bark and 100 g of burdock root in 1 liter of water for about 20 minutes. Rinse your head with a warm mixture after washing. You can also buy a water-glycerin extract from white willow. It can be added to face cosmetics for the care of oily and acne-prone skin and for the care of dandruff-prone skin.
